Snow White. 2001
Video installation, 9 min
South African artist Berni Searle continues her exploration of what one might call the incredible weightiness of color. In Snow White, a video installation that ironically evokes the fairy tale of the same name, Searle whose ancestry spans three continents, metaphorically takes the audience through a cycle of visibility and erasure reminiscent of experiences under the ideological constructs of Apartheid.
