The publication is based on "The Rouwaysset Project", a series of slide shows and conferences, developed by Tony Chakar and Naji Assi as part of the exhibition "Contemporary Arab Representations" curated by C. David. The project is a study of the architecture and living conditions in Rouwaysset, a shantytown in the suburbs of Beirut.
